Hard Labor

It’s G Man with 1 To Go — Is it Over?

With 1 event left in WBL 2006, the Big G, Skeletor, Greg Somerville is poised to take the Blue Jersey as Overall Champion. His 41 points give him a 3 point advantage over the headline grabber of WBL 2006, Wonder Woman, Aaron Furniture’s Kari Bradley. But with Bradley’s expected absence at the final event (she’s having her star laid on the Hollywood Walk of fame), Erin Boots Winter, in 3rd, becomes the only viable threat to Big G. But Winter is within striking distance; and the final event.

Fast Eddie

Fast Eddie Hilger shook his moneymaker, pulled out his Japanese ginsu steak knives, and did a little slicing then dicing on the Starbucks Coffee Hard Labor of Love Classic as he scored his first victory on another tough, blustery day in the WBL. The WBL course designers took an old course and added a few new twists and wrinkles in a diabolical plan to increase the Zealots’ discomfort level. The plan worked. Fast Eddie scored his win at that old favorite, the Pink Church. But, instead of approaching from the Jefferson Riviera Wall, the group hit the Attack Zone sideways—they hit the Jefferson River Road via the Crooked Creek Road. Turning right off the Crooked Creek Road onto J. River Road, the Attack Zone opened. From this point, it was 3 miles to the right hand turn at Alligator Pond, then 1 mile to the Pink Church line. The first time across the line was a 3 place sprint for Red jersey points. After the first sprint, the group would continue, taking 3 right hand turns, and come back to the Pink Church to sprint again for the win. The last lap was 6 miles and the total mileage in the Attack Zone was 10.

When the group hit the Jefferson River Road and the whistler warbled, Jered Gutcheck Gruber hit the gas and was gone, speeding off down the long, winding descent. Hoyt Halverson thought the idea seemed grand, so off he went too. Gruber built an 8 second advantage with Double H chasing half way in between. Behind Bruno Langlois, Zak Taylor, Todd Henrikson.
