The problems started a few days before the Lula Classic when Carney said he wanted to run the WBL like the Catholic Church. That’s when Mike Buechel tried to poison Steve Sevener with arsenic-laced pumpernickel bread that he claimed was baked by local monks. But Carney knows the local monks are Celts, not Saxons, and they make beer, not bread. Carney caught Buechel red-handed and hauled him before an inquisition. When Buechel was placed in the dock, Carney pointed at him with a crooked finger and shouted, “What the hale are ye thinking? Sev’s a sponsor, and I haven’t collected the cash! What say ye, fool?”
